The Uganda constitution provides for equality between women and men and for affirmative action. The entire chapter four of the constitution is devoted to protection of fundamental and other human rights and freedoms. There are specific provisions that relate to gender. The national objective and directive principles of State Policy number XV states that: “the state shall recognize the significant role that women play in society.”

Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) in partnership with the Association for Progressive Communications Women's Network Support Programme (APC WNSP) organised a Feminist Tech eXchange (FTX) training that was held from the 4th to th 7th of November 2009 at the East African Centre for Open Source Software (EACOSS), Nakawa, Kampala.
The Feminist Tech eXcahange (FTX) training in Uganda was aimed at giving activists, service providers, women's rights advocates in the field of Violence Against Women (VAW), practical skills to employ the strategic use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in ending VAW, as well as in addressing situations where ICTs are used as a tool for violence.
The focus of the FTX training was on building skills in digital story telling, social media tools for advocacy and mobile technologies for advocacy.
Defines our approach to training. It outlines the core values that comprise feminist technology training. It is based on the experiences and politics of feminists who train other women to use technologies creatively and strategically.
